The Floods In Nairobi Have People Saying They'll Swim to Work
We give you some of the best social media reactions to #NairobiRains.
It's been raining since 6:15am in Nairobi, Kenya, and it does not look like it will be letting up anytime soon. What started as a heavy downpour quickly evolved into flooded streets and strong winds. Yet the people of Nairobi were quick to take snapshots of the city and post their jokes and reactions to social media.
After a trying period of enduring drought, residents of Nairobi have been relieved of one problem only to face another. The massive floods have overburdened Nairobi's troubling drainage system showing that despite assurance from governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, that Nairobi was "prepared for the rains," it most certainly was not. Currently, residents face flooded homes and floating cars, wondering how they will fair without enough drainage systems to help clear the streets.
Although commuters are having a hard time weathering the storm, nearly swimming in road-turned rivers, as with any obstacle, the people of Nairobi have still managed to make light of the situation and are, excuse the pun, flooding Twitter with hilarious reactions.
