Film: Ghana's Rollaball
September 05, 2012
Rollaball, a new film by Eddie Edwards documents the intense soccer/skateboard sport developed by polio survivors in Ghana. During the week, many of the players eat and sleep on the streets of Accra, but on Sundays in an empty taxi rank, they come together for the love of the sport they built. While many documentaries on Africa victimize people affected by disability and poverty, Rollaball illustrates how these players are fighters - they fight for the recognition of their game and for respect as sportsmen. If there's still any question about their athleticism, peep the trailer below. For more info on the film, visit their Kickstarter page here.
