London Felabration With Tony Allen, Dele Sosimi, 2Face Idibia, Laura Mvula & More
A celebration of Fela Kuti's life and career 'Late at the Library: Felabration!' will take place on October 16 at London's British Library.
Every year, afrobeat icon Fela Kuti's birthday is recognized globally with annual Felabrations honoring the musician's extraordinary life and career. This year, London will be hosting its Late at the Library: Felabration! at the atrium of the British Library led by Dele Sosimi and his 16-man afrobeatorchestra. The extensive line-up also includes afrobeat trailblazer Tony Allen, 2 FaceIdibia, Laura Mvula, Shingai Shoniwa, The Floacist, UK rapper Afrikan Boy, and many others. The event will take place on Friday, October 16 and will mark the opening of the British Museum's West Africa: Word, Symbol, Song exhibition. The celebration will kick-off an eventful weekend at the British Library, where a screening of the documentary Finding Fela will also take place, followed by artist talks fromTony Allen, Dele Sosimi, 2 Face Idibia, and Lemi Ghariokwu–the artist behind some of Fela's most memorable album covers.
