This Is What Dakar's Electrafrique Party With Boddhi Satva Looked Like
In photos: our OkayAfrica Electrafrique party in Dakar with Boddhi Satva was pure magic.
For close to four years, Senegalese music lovers have been eagerly waiting for the return of Boddhi Satva, the maestro of ancestral soul.
It was back in 2013 when Boddhi joined forces with the likes of Zepherin Saint, Sabine Blaizin, Jojo Flores, and Dakar's finest Tchoub Tchoub & DJ Leuz to offer Senegal its first house music festival, which made a strong mark and helped the emerging electro scene to burgeon.
For this ninth edition of Electrafrique Dakar, OkayAfrica teamed up with Kaani and Vibe Radio, to deliver a highly-anticipated event.
The seaside bar of Ngor Yaatouna quickly filled up, as Jeremy Bellot opened the evening. Our brother Cortega set the stage for Boddhi with a mix of afrobeat, soukous and Angolan house. Boddhi took us all on a musical journey of a higher level, letting the beat take over and getting everyone in the crowd lost in the moment. It was pure magic by the Atlantic ocean.
The art came out pouring through the sound system and on the dance floor, as well as behind the cameras, with a mystic studio set up by the talented Siaka Soppo Traore and JB Joire capturing emotions across the floor.
