Daymé Arocena Returns With Afro-Cuban Jazz Album 'Cubafonía'

Afro-Cuban jazz powerhouse, Daymé Arocena, returns with her sophomore album Cubafonía, set for release in March of next year.

The album is a follow-up to last year's highly-acclaimed debut Nueva Era, which garnered the Cuban-born artist rightful praise within the contemporary jazz scene, and beyond.

Arocena released her One Takes EP earlier this year with the lead single "Gods of Yoruba," a track which highlighted the singer's rich spiritual heritage and showcased her robust vocal capabilities. Her voice proves equally moving on her latest single "Mambo Na' Mà."

The three-and-a-half minute track merges Cuban mambo and New Orleans' big band jazz to deliver a high-energy arrangement of lively horns and scat improvisations. Its spirited rhythms come just in time for holiday listening.
