Over the summer, UNC Chapel Hill hip-hop professors/artists Apple Juice Kid and Pierce Freelon built a studio, named the Beat Making Lab, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two taught local students how to make beats and record songs in the studio, which remains at a center in Goma called Yole!Africa for sustainable, community use.
