Addis Ababa: Colours of the Nile Film Festival [11/7-11/11]
The Blue Nile Film and Television Academy, and the Ethiopian Filmmakers Association present Colours of the Nile Film Festival in Addis Ababa.
From November 7-11th, the Blue Nile Film and Television Academy, and the Ethiopian Filmmakers Association present Colours of the Nile Film Festival. This inaugural festival will screen 58 titles from all corners of the continent, from South Africa to Egypt, Ethiopia to Bukina Faso, and many more. The 8 competitive selections in the short-film and documentary category include Cliff Bestall's "Between Heaven & Hell," a candid and shocking peek into one of Africa's most dangerous neighborhoods: Hillbrow, Johannesburg. Omar Shargawi and Karim El Hakim's "1/2 Revolution" captures, very graphically, the most historic revolution of this century as the Arab spring erupted in Cairo.
The festival, which will be run in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will include three competitive selections, dedicated to features, documentaries and short films by African directors and/or produced by African countries in the last two years. 11 prizes will be awarded, including The Great Nile Award for Best Feature Film Director.
