Cashtime Life Just Released Its Whole Catalog on Streaming Platforms
For the first time ever, the whole Cashtime Life catalog is now available on streaming platforms.
If you are a South African music fan, especially hip-hop, then you may have at some point complained about not being able to stream K.O.'s classic solo debut album Skhanda Republic, Kid X's 3 Quarter Pace and Ma-E's Township Counsellor. Ask around, these are three of the most solid SA hip-hop albums of all time.
For the longest time, however, those albums were not on Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming platforms.
This morning, the company sent out a press release announcing the arrival of all three albums on streaming sites. The press release oddly never states why the albums were never available for all to stream for the last few years. The press release did, however, state that new unheard songs from DJ Vigilante, Maggz and Kid X will also be released.
Cashtime Life, which was headed by K.O. and Thabiso "Hip Hop Scholar" Khathi, started collapsing in 2017 when Kid X left. Maggz would soon leave, too, without even releasing an album under the label. It was all downhill from there, and the decline of one of the most important indie labels of our time collapsed completely.
