Cardi B Slams UN Over Slave Trade in Libya: "What's Going On Over There Is Shameful and Disgusting"
The Grammy-nominated artist calls the UN on their bluff for their lack of action on social media this week.
Cardi B is another celebrity from the diaspora who's using her platform to address the brutality of the slave trade in Libya.
The newly Grammy-nominated rapper took to Instagram live this week to express her disappointment in the lack of action by the United Nations to help those in the midst of the crisis, according to Refinery29.
In the nearly 3-and-a-half minute clip, the "Bodack Yellow" singer calls the situation in Libya "shameful and disgusting," and implies that Western countries, and the UN have the capability to help, but won't because they benefit from ongoing chaos in the country.
"It's convenient for them not to help," she says "because they want their resources, and that's a fact." She also suggests that the slave trade would not have occurred if Ghaddafi were still in power.
