Burna Boy Adds Playful Arrogance to the Remix of TitoM and Yuppe’s Amapiano Smash, "Tshwala Bam"

The inescapable hit song gets a rockstar-level verse from the self-proclaimed African Giant.

What do you do when you have the biggest African song of the year so far? Attempt to make it even bigger with a remix featuring an undeniable global superstar.

TitoM and Yuppe created a cultural phenomenon with their incredibly catchy amapiano banger, “Tshwala Bam.” Now the inescapable single has a new remix with the self-proclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy, a move that will keep fresh in the ears of familiar listeners and bring the song to a broader audience.

On the remix, Burna Boy douses the track in some of his trademark, playful arrogance. His extended verse, which opens the song, is a rolodex of self-reverential flexes and mouthy quips at his opps. “Better recognize/Greatest of all time/No other name dem go call mine,” he declares over the stripped down melody of the unchanged beat.

In true Burna Boy form, he adds hedonistic lines that reflect his rockstar status, stamping his imprint on “Tshwala Bam (Remix),” much like he’s done in recent years on Master KG’s “Jerusalema (Remix),Asake’s “Sungba (Remix)” and DJ Tarico’s “Yaba Buluku (Remix).” Considering the impact those songs went on to have, the same outcome is very much on the cards for TitoM and Yuppe’s banger.

Burna Boy’s enthusiasm is apparent on the song, reflecting his statement about working with TitoM and Yuppe. “Jumping on the ‘Tshwala Bam’ remix was a no-brainer for me. It’s a track that resonates with everyone, and I’m thrilled to bring my energy to it and connect with fans in a whole new way.”

Speaking about the collaboration, TitoM said, “To surpass the success of the original, we sought a collaborator with both global appeal and a commitment to enhancing the song's original vibe. Burna Boy was the perfect fit.” Yuppe added, “Working with Burna Boy was both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. He was accommodating and ensured a comfortable collaborative environment.”
