Just last week, Niger-based desert rocker Bombino announced his new album Azel, a 10-track LP produced by the Dirty Projectors‘ Dave Longstreth.
The new album marks an evolution in sound for the Tuareg desert guitarist as he introduces a style he calls ‘Tuareggae’–”a sunny blend of Tuareg blues & rock with reggae one-drop and bounce,” his label explains.
We heard the meditative Azel single “Inar” last week and now get a high dose of adrenaline with the fast-paced “Akhar Zaman (This Moment),” a track that jumps straight out of the gate with its trotting beat and swinging guitars and never lets up.
Stream the single and watch Okay Acoustic With Bombino below. Azel is due out April 1 on Partisan Records.
