Bob Marley & The Wailers 'Exodus' Is 40 Years Old, and Getting a Special Reissue
Bob Marley & The Wailers' classic album 'Exodus' is getting a special 40th anniversary reissue.
Bob Marley & the Wailers’ ninth studio album, Exodus, turns 40 years old today.
To mark the occasion, the Marley family is readying 4 very special reissues of the classic album which featured "Jamming," "One Love / People Get Ready," "Natural Mystic," "Roots," and many more timeless songs.
The reissue will feature Exodus 40 - The Movement Continues, a "restatement" of the original album created by Ziggy Marley.
For that reissue, Ziggy revisited the original Exodus recording sessions, "uncovering unused and never-before-heard vocals, lyric phrasing and instrumentation, incorporating and transforming these various elements into brand-new session takes," the label, Island Records/Universal, mentions.
OkayAfrica spoke to Ziggy Marley about this reissue. He said, "I came up with the idea because I wanted to give people who love Bob something else."
"I was finding stuff all over the place," Ziggy mentions, "I found some synth parts that were really funky and I was like 'let's make this be a lead."
Look out for our full interview with Ziggy Marley next week.
