Asante's 'Drop Money' Is Your Weekend Soundtrack

Asante is a Detroit-based, Ghanaian-rooted artist who landed on our radar with the Sango-produced single "Run You Mad."

Asante is releasing his new sleek boyEP today and to mark the occasion he's dropping the video for "Drop Money," one of the new release's highlights that's tailor-made for the dance floor.

The song's music video, which we're premiering here, is a lively affair that features some of Detroit's best afrobeats dancers.

"For the "drop money" music video, I worked with my go-to camera guru Cylent again... after seeing how well Run You Mad's music video was received," Asante writes to OkayAfrica. "I knew I wanted to highlight the growing African/Caribbean scene here in Detroit in it, so we shot some of it at a Jerk X Jollof party... an event brand I did creative strategy for [that's] become the premiere African/Caribbean experience in the city."

"We wanted the visual for "drop money" to be super energetic/dance oriented, so I gathered some of Detroit's best afrobeat dancers for a shoot. Uncle Azeez, Zawadi, Odili, Ifasooto,Pillah, Jide, Rika, and Francis have all been killin' it here in Detroit at the Jerk X Jollof events, so I had to give them a chance to represent!"
