In Photos: AKA's 'Touch My Blood' Listening Session
Touch My Blood drops this Friday.
South African rapper AKA treated close family, friends, fellow artists and media to a listening session of his upcoming album Touch My Blood last night.
The event took place at Moyo restaurant in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. The rapper was in high spirits, dancing to his own music and giving a breakdown of the inspiration behind some of the songs.
Touch My Blood is a cross between pop and rap, as we've grown to expect from Supa Mega. He even experiments with afrobeat on a song called "Fela In Versace."
"I will shoot a corny Naija-type video for this one," said the rapper about the song.
The event kicked off with a screening of a short documentary taking us behind the scenes of the making of the album. The likes of JR, Buks, Master A Flat, among others, make appearances on the doccie. The artist also screened the music video for TMB's lead single "Fully In." "This one is for the bruinos," says the rapper about the video, in which he's in a coloured neighborhood and interacting with the masses. The video is reminiscent of YoungstaCPT's visuals.
Touch My Blood is AKA's third studio album, following 2014's Levels and 2011's Altar Ego. It's one of the most anticipated South African albums of the year, and will arrive tomorrow (Friday, June 15).
Below are some pics from the event.
The Touch My Blood launch party will take place in Zone 6 in Soweto tomorrow. Tickets are available here.
