AKA shares the visuals for his chart-topping single 'F.R.E.E.'
AKA's single "F.R.E.E" is one of the most played songs on South African radio at the moment. The song, which has topped many charts on the country's stations, features fellow rapper Riky Rick and house producer, artist and disk jockey Tira.
The hit single just got treated to visuals, which AKA shared on Sunday to his followers. "F.R.E.E" is tailored for the festive season, which in South Africa is a time when all morals are lost and the country needs new singles to dance to all December.
Sonically, the song references old school kwaito, a genre that used to run South African Decembers in the 90s and early 2000s. All three verses on "F.R.E.E" are sparse with catchy lines and flows; after all, not many people have time to decipher punchlines on the dancefloor.
The visual lives up to the song's jolly nature, as AKA and his peeps can be seen cruising in a convertible Gusheshe (vintage BMW 3 Series), Riky and Tira perform their verses before several of the same German machines.
December is always a tricky time for hip-hop in South Africa, as the country is known for being a dancing nation. There are always a few hip-hop artists who save the day, usually with songs that are less rap and more dance. "F.R.E.E" is one of those songs this year.
