Gallery: Jon Daniel's 'Afro Supa Sistas'

Earlier this year London-based African Caribbean creative Jon Daniel opened up a collection of comic memorabilia in his Afro Supa Heroes exhibit. In the series, which was previously on display at London's V&A Museum of Childhood, Daniel celebrates his childhood heroes and heroines throughout the diaspora as a personal collection of 1970s and 80s African Diaspora action figures. In conjunction with Afro Supa Hero, Daniel also designed a series of Afro Super Sistas– cartoon images celebrating pop culture heroines and musical icons of African descent the likes of Lupita Nyong'o, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe, Grace Jones, Jill Scott, and more.
