Daniel T. Of Cosmic Kids Shares The 'African Standard' Mixtape
Los Angeles-based spinner and producerDaniel T., of boogie-house-disco DJ duoCosmic Kids,gives us a taste from his upcoming album of afro-disco edits in his new mixtape. African Standard is an hour and a half of vintage grooves fused with 80s synthpop tracks. It’s Talking Heads meets Tony Allen. Amadou & Miriam, Segun Adewale, Bébé Manga, plus countless other greats, all featured on a mix that's guaranteed to make you move.
Daniel T. explained his African Standard mix in an e-mail to Okayafrica, "African disco and electronic funk have been a huge source of inspiration for me recently. The records in this mix are some of my favorites that I've gathered over the past few years. Two of the tracks in the mix are edits I made for Los Angeles based disco edit label American Standard Records. The record will be out in summer, and you can pre-order it here."
