Video: What's Up Africa x Nigeria [Ep. 1]

Check out the latest episode of African political satire and sketch comedy series "What's Up Africa" hosted by Ikenna Azuike.

This past February, Social Media Week took place on the continent, specifically Lagos, Nigeria for the first time — très exciting, as it featured collaborations for many of the great initiatives, organizations and media outlets throughout the diaspora. To sweeten the deal we also get a few episodes of "What's Up Africa in Nigeria" from Ikenna Azuike.

The first episode of What's Up Africa in Nigeria takes place on the streets of Surulere Lagos, where we follow Ikenna as "Pastor Ike Azubike" while he literally gets all up in people's faces and asks them "which kind wahala" they deal with on a day to day basis. The first time we watched, we couldn't stop looking at passer-by's facial expressions of intrigue, confusion and entertainment.

While Pastor Ike Azubike's falling into the gutter on Akerele Street, he manages to ask various Lagosians a significant question: "If President for one day, what would you do?" The responses reflect the fundamental structural issues the government has yet to fully address: electricity, corruption, unemployment and education. The most telling and "Nigerian" response of course comes from the woman who says "She wants to make sure people know about God." Nigerians and their spirituality. Check out the episode below.
