Adekunle Gold has released his first single of 2025, "Obimo," a track that blends Afrobeats, amapiano, and R&B influences. The song, released today, Feb. 12, explores themes of love beyond just romance, touching on friendship, family and community — just in time for Valentine's Day.

The title, which means "my heart" in Igbo, reflects the song's emotional tone. The lyrics capture deep devotion and longing, with Adekunle Gold singing, "Loving you is primary, only you, no plan B." He describes love as a force that consumes him, adding, "If I never see you, mi o ma le jeun, mi o ma le sun" — which translates to, "If I never see you, I won't be able to eat, I won't be able to sleep." The song's chorus reaffirms this connection with the repeated refrain, "Obi m o, my baby carry go."

The production combines percussion-heavy Afrobeats rhythms, amapiano log drums, and smooth R&B melodies, creating a warm and rhythmic sound. The music video features Nigerian American rapper and actor Tobe Nwigwe and his wife, Fat Nwigwe, alongside visuals depicting different types of love, reinforcing the song's broader message of inclusivity through family bonds, platonic connections, and romance.
