Last we heard from the crew at Habibi Funk they were readying a release from the Moroccan James Brown. Now, label head Jannis Stürtz is digging into his deep crates once again for another Habibi Funk mix of 1970s-80s Arabic funk.

The highlight of Habibi Funk 005 is its inclusion of unreleased material from Ahmed Malek, who Stürtz describes as “Algeria’s answer to Ennio Morricone.” The mix kicks off in true Spaghetti Western style with Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdi’s “Love Story” and then continues on to include selections from Morocco, Istanbul, and Beirut.
