Half Of A Yellow Sun's John Boyega Cast In J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII

22-year-old John Boyega is fast becoming one of the most exciting names in Hollywood this year. Back in January, team Okayafrica/Okayplayer had the chance to catch the Nigerian/British actor's standout performance in Malik Vitthal's heartrending Imperial Dreams at its Sundance premiere. Before that he was perhaps best known for his turn as Moses in the 2011 teen monster flick Attack The Block. Now he's been handpicked by director J.J. Abrams to appear in the seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise. Boyega will join the saga's original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. Star Wars: Episode VII is expected to open worldwide December 18, 2015. Until then, you can catch Boyega on the silver screen as Ugwu in the film adaption of Half Of A Yellow Sun and on TV in FOX's 24: Live Another Day reboot alongside Gbenga Akkinagbe.
