Beat Making Lab Ethiopia 'Des Yelal' Music Video [Ep. 6/6]

We've been keeping up with Apple Juice Kid and Pierce Freelon as they've taken their Beat Making Lab to Ethiopia for the final stop in the show's inaugural season. After two weeks of beat education in Addis, the team had assembled a fresh production in need of visual accompaniment. Filmmaker Tsgaye Ermias came aboard to direct (within a 48 hour span) the dance-heavy video for the lab's collaborative fruit, "Des Yelal (It Feels Good)." What resulted was a good time showcase of the future of Ethiopian beatmaking, a picture through a Macklemore-like filter (see: "And We Danced") of a new generation-led promised land in production. The lab's finished dancefloor concoction filters some of the more interesting samples we've heard all year. Keep ears open for heartstring pulling vocals kicking in at 2:25. Watch the video for "Des Yelal" in the Ethiopian Beat Making Lab finale below and catch up on episodes 1, 2, 3, 4 + 5.
