AFRICA IN YOUR EARBUDS #37: BBRAVE OF AKWAABA

Paris/LA-bred Benjamin Lebrave aka BBRAVE is the founding force behind the forward-looking African music imprint Akwaaba Music and the voice behind Fader magazine's Lungu Lungu column. For years, BBRAVE's Accra-based Akwaaba label has been putting out releases from noteworthy names, and OKA site favorites, like Just A Band,  FOKN Bois, Chief Boima and most recently Art Melody.

In our latest installment of Africa In Your Earbuds BBRAVE puts together a sublime mix that aims to reflect his live DJ club sets — though, as he points out, slightly tweaked with more tempo/mood changes for an audience tuning in on laptop speakers/headphones. "I purposely played almost nothing I've released," he wrote us, "Not too sure why, I think just 'cause I wanted to do something different. People familiar with me are usually even more familiar with the songs I release, so with this mix, whether people already know me or not, they will probably all be surprised by what they hear!"
