Audio: Fela Kuti Live in Detroit, 1986

Fela Kuti's 1986 show at Detroit's Fox Theatre was part of his US debut tour with Egypt 80. Knitting Factory Records is prepping an LP release of the full concert — the first new Fela material to be issued since his final studio album Underground System in 1992.

The new release will feature extended live renditions of tunes like the Nigerian Civil War inspired "Just Like That", "Confusion Break Bones", and Fela's swipe at forced oyinbo politics in Africa "Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense" (which you can stream below). Keep a look out for Live in Detroit, 1986 out 5/8 via KFR.
