Audio: 1977 Ghanaian Highlife From Vis-A-Vis

Minneapolis imprint Secret Stash is prepping the reissue of 1977's Obi Agye Me Dofo LP by Vis-A-Vis, a Ghanaian highlife group who played as K. Frimpong's backing band for years. Though better known for their tours and recordings with Frimpong, (in which they were credited as Cubano Fiestas) the group released a number of rare and sought-after albums in their prime. In Obi Agye Me Dofo Vis-A-Vis infuse classic highlife's guitar-laden funk grooves and jazz horns with sparse synthesizer hits, arriving at a Joromi sound. Stream and download "Kankyema" below. Grab Vis-A-Vis' Obi Agye Me Dofo over at Secret Stash.
