OkayAfrica's 100 Women celebrates African women who are making waves, shattering ceilings, and uplifting their communities.
Iman and Siham Hashi, the Somali sisters formally known as FAARROW, left their native country as children and relocated with their family to Canada. Combining the meanings of their names—faith and arrow—the pop duo continues to build a fanbase that admires their sonic and sartorial styles.
The sisters are big humanitarians, working as spokespeople for the United Nations Refugee Agency and advocating for women’s rights. They also design tees, hats and accessories for the “bold and fearless #girlgang” out of Los Angeles.
FAARROW is known for releasing delicious pop and R&B music, most notably on the band’s latest EP, Lost. Their inspiring track,"Chasing Highs," speaks of “someone going to extreme measures just to feel alive,” according to Siham who spoke to Teen Vogue.
