Cape Town MCs Call For Collective Hip-Hop Consciousness On 'Follow Us Home'

The cult of the Cape Town beatmaking and electronic scene has only continued to make strides in the new year. Cape Town hip-hop, in contrast, has seemed a bit less entity-like these days. Enter DJ/producer Ricardo Nunes (aka DJ Azuhl), who's ringleading a call for collective hip-hop consciousness in the Mother City. One of his earliest measures is a Native Tongues-like gathering of emcees on "Follow Us Home." On the jazzily backed Mother City salute, Azuhl tapped Cape Town MCs Ben Caesar, Youngsta, Ill Skillz, Jean Pierre and the soulfully piped EJ Von Lyrik to call for more collaboration amongst their city's hip-hop community. Watch the "Follow Us Home" video below and scroll on to catch "Azuhl's Allstars" discuss Cape Town rap culture and the need for more citywide collaboration.
