Premiere: Young Fathers Redefine 'Pop Music' In New Clip Ahead Of Massive North America/UK Tour
Young Fathers redefine "pop music" in a new clip ahead of their massive North America/UK tour in support of 'White Men Are Black Men Too.'
Next Tuesday Young Fathers will release their sophomore album White Men Are Black Men Too, the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-winning debut LP Dead. That same week the Scottish/Liberian/Nigerian trio will also set out on a massive headlining tour through the U.S., Canada, the UK and a few places in between beginning April 9th in Boston. Ahead of the tour the group now share a preview of what to expect from their pop music revival. The clip, brilliantly narrated by their manager Tim London and partially shot while they were on tour in South Africa earlier this year, is an arty redefinition of what it means to make pop music in 2015. "Pop means something different where we're from," London says. "Where we're from, pop is the soundtrack to youth. It includes all the genres apart from the most obscure ambient music. Just about every genre has its pop songs." White Men Are Black Men Too is available for pre-order via Ninja Tune, Amazon, and iTunes. All ticket links for Young Fathers' upcoming tour can be found here. See the full list of dates and watch the premiere of their latest clip, an "advert" entitled BE HOT OR BE COLD, below.
