Young Fathers Announce New Album 'White Men Are Black Men Too' + Share 'Rain Or Shine'
Stream the lead single off Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers' new album 'White Men Are Black Men Too.'
Young Fathers have announced the follow-up to last year's Mercury Prize-winning, top album of the year choice Dead. The Scottish/Liberian/Nigerian trio's upcoming full-length, titled White Men Are Black Men Too, was written and recorded on the road throughout their 2014 world tour and finished at their studio in Edinburgh.
The 12-track album will look to further band members ‘G’ Hastings,Alloysious Massaquoi and Kayus Bankole's distinct blend of apocalyptic pop — a combination of group vocals, heavy beats, rhymes and experimental rock edges. If you're wondering about the LP's provocative title, Alloysious explains in an impassioned press statement "We came at it from a different angle, a positive angle. it's got issues of race and so what? Why should alarm bells start ringing, even though in general conversations race, politics, sex and religion are always the subject matter? Why should it be discussed behind closed doors and never confronted head on? How do we help tackle one of the biggest hinderances in people's lives and the world... by not putting the question forward and not letting people debate positively or negatively about the statement?" You can read the full statement at The Guardian.
