NY-Liberian Designer Telfar Clemens' Modern Cowboy

Liberian designer Telfar Clemens showcased his New York Fashion Week presentation at the New Museum for Fall/Winter 14.

Earlier this month we made the trip to Manhattan's Lower East Side to attend Telfar's New York Fashion Week presentation at the New Museum. Every detail was taken care of, from the main entrance to the runway. Right behind the guest list checking table, we spotted a large figurine of New York-Liberian designer Telfar Clemens and next to it many pieces from the collection, more model figurines and bags with a massive 'T.' Inside you felt within Telfar's environment: trendy, fresh and definitely young. The place was packed as the shows took place upstairs twice that same day. The runway show depicted a reflection of a modern cowboy, a "fake" lazy hipster and a fashionista from the future. In our era, it's really hard to invent trends and reinvent yourself. But Telfar is part of these upcoming designers that are bringing something new to the fashion scene. The outfits looked comfy and featured heavy fringes, hoodies, knots, massive necklines, high boots, oversized jackets and coats. We don't know if you'd dare wear these pieces on a regular basis but we could envision these garments on a film or theatre set. The presentation truly showcased a full experience that leads to a real understanding of Telfar's universe. Scroll through our gallery to see the pictures from the runway show and the post-show.
