These Reactions to the Current Election Results from South Africans are Hilarious
South Africans are having a field day on social media as the votes from the elections are still being counted.
South Africans cast their votes in the national elections just two days ago. Described as the most fiercely contested elections the country has had in years, there was plenty of drama at the polls.
Some voters were turned away because there weren't enough ballot papers while others finessed the system and actually voted more than once. If that weren't enough, documents have surfaced that show that Russian operatives were planning to influence the election results in favor of the ruling African National Congress (ANC).
Approximately 70 percent of the votes have been counted thus far. According to News24, the ANC is currently in the lead with 57.31 percent followed by the Democratic Alliance and the Economic Freedom Fighters with 21.09 and 10.31 percent respectively. While the ANC's support has dropped from 62.15 percent in the 2014 elections, the DA and more so the EFF, have grown their support substantially.

However, South Africans on Twitter are throwing some serious shade because the votes definitely don't reflect the popular opinions that were so rampant on social media over the past few weeks. The biggest questions on everybody's mind are why the ANC is in the lead (when everyone on Twitter seemed to be voting for the EFF) and how the right-wing Freedom Front Plus (FF+) is now a part of the top five political parties in the country.
Take a look at some of these reactions below:
