Audio: Awesome Tapes From Africa's Exberliner Mix

Brian Shimkovitz of Awesome Tapes From Africahas put together a mixtape for German magazine Exberliner's September issue Africa In Berlin. Despite some of the articles seeming a bit eye-brow raising — "Jungle Fever? Or Just Lonely?" is one example of a featured piece's title — Awesome Tapes' mix is a stellar crop of the vintage cassettes we've come to know through his blog. The mix starts with the almost confusingly complex percussion from Ndiogou Seck but then eases into a slew of upbeat/dance tracks from Yvonne Chaka ChakaOrchestre Régional de Ségou and others. Stream and download it below. We'll hold off judgment on the magazine until we actually get our hands on a copy.
